Subcomzactor shall pack, crate and transport all windows to Construction Manager <br /> approved window restoration shop for restoration and repair work. <br /> <br /> C. All repair and restoration work shall conform to standards of the Secretary of the <br /> Interior Standards for Rehabilitation and the National Parks Service Technical Bulletins and <br /> is subject to approval by the Architect: <br /> <br /> 1. Hand strip, scrape and sand all windows as specified in Section 09900 - Painting. <br /> Clean with Oxalic Acid/water at a ratio of 1:7. Chemical tank dipping of windows <br /> and/or window components is expressly forbidden. <br /> <br /> 2. Rejuvenate all weathered wood by lightly sanding and then applying a field <br /> prepared solution of 24 oz exterior varnish, 1 oz paraffin wax and enough <br /> mineral spirits to make 1 gallon of solution. Flood surfaces and allow to <br /> soak for 24 hours prior to removing excess solution. <br /> <br /> 3. All windows shall be repaired to sound operating and weathertight condition. All <br /> damaged wood and glass is to be repaired according to requirements of <br /> Specifications SECTION 06700 - WOOD RESTORATION and SECTION 7900 <br /> JOINT SEALERS. <br /> <br /> 4. See Drawings for additional requirements. <br /> <br /> 5. All work by glass subcontractor is to be directed and coordinated by window <br /> restoration sub-contractor. <br /> <br />3.02 INSTAI.I.ATION: <br /> <br /> A. New Replica Windows: In general, comply with manufacturer's instructions and <br /> recommendations for installation of replacement wood window units, hardware, <br /> accessories, and other components of work. Adjust installation methodology as required to <br /> accommodate individual discrepancies in rough window openings. Most, if not all rough <br /> openings will be out-of square and require some adjustment of jamb-head-sill assembly for <br /> successful installation. Allow adequate time and resources to adjust window frames <br /> accordingly. No cutting of existing rough masonry window openings will be <br /> allowed <br /> <br /> B. Existing Windows: Reinstallation of restored existing windows and installation of <br /> window hardware is to be performed by the windowrestorationsubcontractor. <br /> <br /> C. All Units: Set units plumb, level, and ~ue to line, without warp or rack of frames or sash. <br /> Provide proper support and anchor securely in place. Refer to Division 7 of these <br /> Specifications for joint fillers and sealants required for installation. <br /> <br />3.03 ADJUST AND CLEAN: <br /> <br /> A. Adjust operating sash and hardwar~ to provide smooth operation with tight, weatherproof <br /> closure. Lubricate hardware and moving parts. <br /> <br /> B. Refer to Section 09900 Painting for required finish to be applied on wood window units <br /> at project site.
