As specified in Divisions 00 and 01 apply to all work in this Section.. <br /> <br />1.02 DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br /> <br /> A. Work Included: Conditions for making substitutions and procedures for their <br /> proposal. <br /> <br /> B. Definitions: <br /> <br /> 1. Substitution requests are only allowed where indicated in the individual <br /> specification section. The manner of specification shall determine whether a <br /> submittal will be considered a substitution to be accepted or rejected <br /> according to criteria stated in this Section. Due to the specialized nature of <br /> historic restoration and rehabilitation work, the potential for material <br /> substitution is extremely limited. Unsolicited substitution requests from <br /> Contractor(s) will not be considered. <br /> <br /> a. Where specification is by manufacturer's trade name or model <br /> designation, item which bears different trade name or model <br /> designation will be considered a substitution. <br /> <br /> b. Where specification is by reference to standards of wade, industry, or <br /> governmental organizations, item not in compliance with <br /> standards referenced will be considered a substitution. <br /> <br /> c. Item which does not conform with descriptive, performance, or <br /> dimensional requirements shown or noted will be considered a <br /> substitution. <br /> <br /> d. Where specification is by combination of descriptive material, <br /> reference to standards, performance criteria or manufacturer's <br /> wade names and there are discrepancies or conflicts <br /> between requirements specified, the Architect reserves the <br /> right to consider items a substitution which fails to satisfy <br /> one or more requirements of the specification. <br /> Contractor(s) who discover such discrepancies should <br /> request clarification by addendum during the proposal period. <br /> <br /> 2. An equal shall qualify as such where material, product, or system proposed as <br /> equal conforms with descriptive, performance, or proprietary <br /> requirements of the specifications and requirements shown or noted <br /> in the drawings.
