Minutes of the Regular City Council Meeting <br />October 4, 2001 <br />Page 14 <br />Resolution No. 2001-174, setting the date of a second public hearing on levying <br />an assessment on benefitted property to pay a portion of the cost of the <br />expanded scope of the sanitary sewer extension for the Cope Addition, <br />suburban Estates Addition, Golden Acre Addition, and certain tracts in the E. <br />Crow Survey along Meadowlark Street, Mockingbird Street, Cope Street, Pine <br />Mill Road, Thomas Drive, and Welch Circle, was presented. A motion was <br />made by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by Councilman Carter, for approval <br />of the resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2001-175, directing the City Engineer to prepare plans and <br />specifications for the repair of the Gateway Project entry sign at the south <br />entrance to Paris, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman <br />McCarthy, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Manning, for approval of the <br />resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Pfiester called for consideration of and action by motion on suggested <br />speed limits to be included in a draft ordinance to be forwarded to TxDOT for <br />FM 137 and FM 79. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman McCarthy, seconded by <br />Councilman Plata to recommend 30 miles per hour speed limits for both FM <br />137 and FM 79 for the draft ordinances. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Pfiester called for a report from the City Attorney on the meeting of <br />Cities Aggregate Power Project (CAPP) which is concerned with the purchase <br />of power following deregulation. <br />City Attorney Schenk advised that the City Council had been furnished <br />material regarding the purchase of power following deregulation. He and the <br />City Manager had attended a meeting of the Board in Dallas and the Board is <br />close to selecting an electric provider.
