2010.04 <br />Well fitted stoppers or <br />]ine when construction is stopped tempo <br />of the Contractor to deliver to the City <br />2010.05 <br />:heads shall be securely placed in all openings and in the end of the <br />rily and at the end of each day's work. It shall be the responsibility <br />pipeline that is clean throughout its entire ]ength. <br />2000 psi concrete shall placed for blocking at each change in d'uection in the pipeline, in <br />such manner as will brace the pipe agai st undisturbed trench walls. Concrete blocking, made from Type I <br />cement, shall have been in place four (4 days prior to testing the pipeline as hereinaf[er specified. Test may <br />be made in two (2) days after completi n of blocking if Type III cement is used. <br />At all points where we connections aze made to existing lines, the existing lines shall be <br />adequately blocked and the tapping co nection fittings shall be supported by blocking up to the spring line <br />with 2000 psi concrete. <br />Concrete blocking will ot be measured or paid for as a sepazate item but the cost thereof <br />shall be included in the various items lited in the Proposal and Bid Schedule. <br />2010.06 <br />The Contractor shall make the alternations and [he necessary connections to existing city <br />water mains as shown on the plans. S h connections shall be made at such tune and in a manner approved <br />by the City Water Department; in each case, when the work is started, it shall be prosecuted expeditiously <br />and continuously until completed. <br />Where it is necessary o indicated in the plans, connections to existing mains under pressure <br />shall be made with tapping connection ttings. Where it is possible to valve off the section of existing main <br />where the connection is to be made, t e Contractor may have the option of either connecting by means of <br />tapping connection fittings or by cutti g the main and using standard fittings. <br />Tapping sleeves, cross s and valves shall be of standard manufacture and mechanical joint <br />type to fit AW WA pipe specification in lasses A, B, C and D. Tapping sleeves and crosses shall be designed <br />for minimum working pressure of 15 pounds per square inch. Connecting flanges on tapping sleeves, <br />crosses and valves shall be ASA Class 25. Tapping valves shall be designed for minimum working pressure <br />of 175 pounds per square inch. <br />2010.07 <br />After the pipe has beeo laid for at least seven (7) days, pressure pipelines shall be tested in <br />such sections approved by the City. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment <br />required to bullchead and seal off the line for testing, fil] it with water, raise the filled line to test pressure and <br />measure both pressure and leakage oviier the test period. <br />Item 2010-2 <br />
