The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Malone reported that Fire Stations No. 2 and No. 4 are under <br />construction. Fire Station No. 2 is the substation located on Pine Mill Road <br />and is about 70% complete. The contractors have completed the insulation <br />and started installing the sheetrock. The electricians are almost through with <br />the rough-in electrical and the plumber is almost through with the rough-in <br />plumbing. He said the painters will started painting the truck bays very soon, <br />and as soon as it drys up the bricklayers will start laying brick. City Manager <br />Malone said Fire and EMS Station No. 4 is located on the northwest corner of <br />Jefferson Road and 24t" SE Street and is about 50% complete. The metal <br />building has been erected and the roof installed. The carpenters have started <br />the framing of the walls. City Manager Malone said the water and wastewater <br />utilities are almost completed at both stations. Mr. Bill Davidson is the <br />Construction Manager for the projects. He thinks it may be February before <br />the stations are completed. <br />City Manager Malone reminded the City Council thattonightthey approved the <br />plans and specification forthe Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Extension Project <br />from 6t" Street N. E. to N. Main Street, and plans and specifications call for <br />approximately 2,550 linear feet of 6" water mains, 110 linear feet of 2" water <br />mains, 6 fire hydrantassemblies, 26 water customer services, 2,090 linearfeet <br />of 8" sanitary sewer, 5 manholes,18 sanitary sewer customers services, 6,744 <br />square yards of reinforced concrete street paving, 3 type C inlets, 8 type E <br />inlets for drainage, 48 linear feet of 15" reinforced concrete pipe storm sewer, <br />320 linear feet of 48 reinforced concrete pipe store sewer, 570 linear feet of 8' <br />concrete flat bottom ditch, and 1,052 linear feet of 14' concrete flat bottom <br />ditch with construction complete and in place. He said the project will be <br />advertised on November 19 and 26t", 2000. Bids will be received on December <br />5t" and he would hope all bids that come in are easy to sort through, and was <br />hopeful the bids will be awarded at the December council meeting. <br />City Manager Malone said there is presently a project underway for the <br />replacement of 36" sanitary sewer outfall line from the Loop north to the flow <br />equalization basin. He said it is underthe direction of Terry Townsend and the <br />inspector directed to work on the scene is Dave Daniels. The work is being <br />done in conjunction with the administrative order from the EPA and is also <br />
