City Council Meeting <br />November 13, 2000 <br />Page 12 <br />recommended in the sanitary sewer evaluation survey that ADS Environmental <br />Services did for the City of Paris. City Manager Malone advised the City <br />Council that with Earl Smith being gone, he has placed one-half of the <br />Engineering Department employees underthe direction of Tommy Haynes and <br />the other half under the direction of Terry Townsend. <br />City Manager Malone said the Manhole Rehabilitation Project is also a part of <br />the Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey, which is under the direction of Terry <br />Townsend. Thomas Ridge is the inspector on the scene. He said this work is <br />being done in accordance with a study that the city had completed. <br />City Manager Malone said there is a report from Public Works that they have <br />completed the 2" overlay at the compost site which is in the southwest part of <br />the city long with a 30'x30' covered shed. City Manager Malone also reported <br />that a 4,200 foot privacy fence made out of inetal has been completed at the <br />Public Works Department, which shields from public view all of the items of <br />material that are used by that department. City Manager Malone said the city <br />has partially completed an extension of 27t" N. E. Street, which was a project <br />done in conjunction with the State. City Manager Malone explained that the <br />State provided funds to extend 27t" Street into the Loop access road, and curb <br />and gutter is being builtforthe property owners who provided the land forthis <br />project. <br />City Manager Malone said curb and gutter has been completed around the <br />existing skate park located at the Market Square and trees, grass and other <br />landscaping will follow in the next few weeks. <br />City Manager Malone said the proposals have been received for the Main <br />Street Downtown Streetscape Design Project and they will be reviewed by the <br />staff and brought back to the City Council at a later date. <br />The City Manager said the Sanitation Division has processed 750 cubic yards <br />of brush and that staff training for employees of the Water and Sewer <br />Divisions of Public Works has been completed on the utilization of new self- <br />contained breathing apparatus that is placed on the Vactor trucks. He said <br />plans have been developed for the first phase of the Record Park playground <br />equipment replacement and park improvements. A grant has been submitted <br />to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for Heritage Park and the city <br />
