Special Budget Wark Session <br />August 29, 2000 <br />Page 2 <br />included a computer proj ector and 4 PC workstations, reel and push cable for <br />the CCTV sewer camera. City Manager Malone said the camera has been <br />purchased or is going to be purchase in the present budget. City Manager <br />Malone said they had requested $20,000.00 for a workstation and he reduced <br />that to $9,000.00 and said the $1,800.00 can be cut out of the budget for the <br />sewer camera or leave it in the budget and it can go towards the workstations. <br />City Manager Malone said there was a request of $24,000.00 for a new vehicle <br />and he had cut that from the budget. <br />City Manager Malone discussed Tommy Haynes's position and his <br />responsibilities along with the possibility of a Community Development <br />Director handling that position and the position of Public Relations Director. <br />City Manager Malone also discussed the public relations being developed by <br />the Library Director and the Director of Public Works is also working in this <br />area. Maria Pope is also working on information that will go on the internet. <br />After discussing the fees that are collected by the Engineering Department, it <br />was the consensus of the City Council to increase the inspection fees. <br />The next proposed budget presented was for the administrative division of the <br />Department of Public Works. City Manager Malone said no requests were <br />made for additional personnel or reclassification and step raises are due. <br />Adjustments are to be made pending the wage and salary study. <br />City Manager Malone advised that there is an increase in postage, decrease in <br />mechanical to zero, increase in photographic supplies from $50.00 to $500.00, <br />which will include taking more pictures for a new brochures and for illustration <br />to the City Council. He said communications has been increased from <br />$3,000.00 to $4,000.00. The miscellaneous account has been reduced to zero, <br />and associations increased from zero to $300.00. City Manager Malone said <br />training - tuition, etc. was increased from $100.00 to $1,000.00 to cover cost <br />of seminars and training opportunities, and promotional activity increased from <br />zero to $2,000.00. City Manager Malone said the medical expenses have been <br />added to cover medical expenses such as the potential cost of a physical, and <br />
