Special Budget Wark Session August 28, 2000 Page 5 City Manager Malone said the next proposed budget is the City Clerk's budget. He said it has been requested to upgrade a Clerk I to a Clerk III and an additional part-time person to replace a Green Thumb person that is expected to be taken away as the city has not hired anyone from this program. City Manager Malone said the request for reclassification of the clerk is to be considered after receipt of salary and wage study, and he did not budget for the requested part-time person. City Manager Malone advised that there was a request in the Photographic Supplies for $1,500.00 and this was reduced to $500.00 anticipating the purchase of the Laserfische System. City Manager Malone said under Machinery, Tools, and Equipment, $47,615.00 has been requested for the purchase of the LaserFische imaging system and software, and the purchase of a computer to be used in connection with the state for remote birth certification. This would be to replace an old 486 Compaq which is inadequate to run new software for this function. He advised that there is $10,000.00 available for the Police Department through a grant which can be applied to this purchase. The Accounting and Auditing's proposed budget was presented by City Manager Malone and he advised that there was reclassification of the Data Processing Manager to Deputy Director of Finance/Information Technology Manager to a Grade 40. There is also a request to reclassify the Payroll Clerk to UP Administrative Assistant to a Grade 23. He said the reclassifications will be considered after the salary and wage study. City Manager Malone said most of the other requests are very similar and he furnished the City Council with notes that detail the various line items. City Manager Malone pointed out that under Buildings and Grounds there is a request for $10,000.00 and he has cut that to $4,000.00, and under Machinery, Tools, and Equipment there is a request for $15,000.00 for a color printer, security system, a postage machine, 3 personal computers and one shredder.
