City Council Meeting <br />February 12, 2001 <br />Page 14 <br />Project and that work is on schedule. <br />City Manager Malone said we have had a lot of inquiry regarding the animal <br />shelter project and reported that a number of sites have been looked at in <br />various locations and there have been problems with them. He said <br />presently the city is looking at the northwest corner of the fairgrounds, <br />which is property that the city owns and can be taken back for use for a <br />city project. He advised that excavations have been performed to see what <br />the soil is like and if the city is able to utilize that property, it is probably <br />the best location that for this project. <br />City Manager Malone advised the City Council that he expects to have the <br />bids ready to be considered for the storm debris removal and the meeting <br />tomorrow night. He asked all citizens to place their limbs and brush on <br />the curb for pick up as soon as possible. City Manager Malone said Public <br />Works and our citizens have been hauling a lot of brush to a location on <br />Fitzhugh Avenue, and one of the components of that bid is to remove that <br />brush from that location and take it to another location to be to be ground <br />up. <br />City Manager Malone advised that two projects, the Long Street <br />Improvement Project and the MLK Improvement Project had been awarded <br />to Stephens and Sons for construction and notice proceed has been <br />issued. <br />City Manager Malone reported that the city has been turned down for a <br />second time on its Heritage Park Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant <br />Application. He said they were trying to recoup and will come back to the <br />City Council with a recommendation on how to proceed. <br />The City Manager reported that all the field surveying and the plan profile <br />that the City Council authorized have been completed for the Wade Park, <br />24t" Street, and Lamar Avenue Drainage Project. Hayter Engineering is <br />analyzing that data to make a recommendation on how to proceed with this <br />project and solve the problems or abate them in some way. <br />The City Manager reported on the status of various waterline projects in <br />N. W. Paris: from 7t" N. W. to 13t" N. W. on Graham; on 9t" Street N. W. to <br />Bonham; and West Houston Street from 7t" Street to 11 t" Street; on Connor <br />Street from 9t" N. W. to 1 1 t" N. W.; on 1 1 t" N. W. Street from Graham to <br />
