City Council Minutes <br />January 14, 2002 <br />Page 17 <br />City Attorney Schenk advised the City Council that at this time, the city does <br />not have a formal request from Lamar County for abandonment of this street, <br />and suggested this resolution be passed conditioned upon the City of Paris <br />receiving a letter from Lamar County to this effect. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded by Councilman Carter, <br />approving the resolution conditioned upon the City of Paris receiving a formal <br />request from Lamar County for abandonment of a portion of West Price Street. <br />The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2002-023, expressing the strongest possible support of the City <br />Council for the efforts of the East Texas Gulf Highway Association to prevail <br />upon the Texas Department of Transportation Commission to complete the <br />expansion of the Green Carpet Memorial Route, including a portion of U. S. <br />Highway 271 from Mt. Pleasant to Paris to a four-lane highway; recognizing <br />the economic necessity and benefit from such highway construction, was <br />presented. A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Manning seconded by <br />Councilman Gray, for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2002-024, authorizing and directing the Mayor of the City of <br />Paris to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris a lease with the Red River <br />Valley Girl Scout Council of Texas, was presented. A motion was made by <br />Mayor Pro Tem Manning, seconded by Councilman Plata, for approval of the <br />resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 2002-025, authorizing and directing the City Manager to <br />execute on behalf of the City of Paris, and the City Clerk to attest to a Letter of <br />Agreement between the City of Paris and the Texas Historical Commission to <br />qualify the city for eligibility to participate in the Main Street Graduate City <br />Program, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded <br />by Councilman Plata, for approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />
