City Council Minutes <br />January 14, 2002 <br />Page 8 <br />City Attorney Schenk explained that the resolution that was sent to Lamar <br />County was definitive as to who puts in money and how much money each <br />party will pay. Mr. Schenk said the City knows the trade-in value of the <br />ambulance. The city staff was looking for an amount the County would <br />contribute toward the transfer whether it is under the ambulance contract or <br />outside the contract, so the staff could advise City Council of the city's share <br />of the cost. City Attorney Schenk said the resolution that he had sent to Judge <br />Superville and that is now before City Council reflected his understanding that <br />the Red Cross would contribute $7,000.00 , the city would pay 60% of the <br />remaining cost, and the county would pay 40%. The resolution can be changed <br />to reflect whatever arrangement is made; but Judge Superville's letter does not <br />give an amount that the County will pay. <br />City Manager Malone felt that the city should go ahead with the resolution with <br />whatever modifications needing to be made because the city has already <br />notified the Houston-Galveston COG purchasing cooperative about the <br />purchase of the ambulance and we promised this used ambulance as a trade-in. <br />He said we need to make those people aware officially that we are not going to <br />have a trade-in the ambulance and the city will have to come up with the extra <br />funding. <br />City Attorney Schenk pointed out that in the resolution to the County reflected <br />that $7,000.00 would come from the American Red Cross, 40% of the <br />remaining trade-in value, or 40% of $8,503.00 was $3,401.20 and the <br />remainder would be given by the City of Paris. <br />Ms. McAlister pointed out that they do have $7,000.00, but their Chapter is <br />almost financially broke and the $7,000.00 expenditure would really hurt the <br />Red Cross. She said if they have to give the whole $7,000.00, they would not <br />be able to upgrade the vehicle. <br />City Attorney Schenk advised the City Council that they will have to designate <br />a source of funds because the city has a contract with the county that says the <br />
