Proposa/
Comprehensive Water Distribution System Audit
area which has a moratorium imposed by the State
Engineer); and to provide mast cost effedive infrastrudure
for the transportation distribution and storage of this water
to lands that do not have water. EastCanyonWoterlineis
port of ihese services. Providing engineering services for
design and constructian management of 72,000 feet of
30-inch diameter ductile iron high pressure (in excess of
465 psi) waterline.
A Booster Station and Intake Strudure were alsa part of the
projed. Providing engineering services for design and
construdion management for 6.5 mgd pump station and
intake strudure, ezpandable to 22 mgd, to pump water
more than 1,100 feet vertically6om East Canyon Reservoir
ta Snyderville Basin.
Microfiltration WaterTreatment Plant. Praviding engineering
services for design and construction of 22 millian gallons
per day water treatment plant. The first phase being 6.5
million gallons perday.
Dallas Water Utilities
Eastern System
Drought
Implementation Plan
Dallas, Texas
The projed included the ezpansion of the ezisting 230 MGD
raw water pump station to a firm capaciry af 310 MGD, and
the design and construdion of the 241 MGD Lake fork
Pump Station and 108-inch rawwotertransmission main.
The drought conditions implementation plan developed
population forecasts and per capita demands to determine
total system demands through 2050. These demands were
compared with demands developed by regression-
extrapolation onalysis in order to determine the final
demands used for planning. Costestimateswereprepored
to connect Lake Fork into the DWU system including the
Lake Fork pump station and transmission line.
Additionally, six long range water supply alternatives were
evaluated for ronneding Lake Palestine, George Parkhouse
Carter :.Burgess
No. 2, and Marvin C. Nichols No.1 to the Dallas system.
Planning level construdion cost estimates and 0&M cost
estimates were developed for each of the six alternatives.
The total system corn were in the range of 5750 million,
and induded new pump stations, a new surface water
treatment plant, and over 100 miles of lorge-diameter
iransmission lines.
Total improvements for the pump station are estimated to
be S14 million in three constructian contracts. Four new
68 MGD pumping units and 4,500 NP matars will be
installed, olang with discharge and header piping. The
instrumentation and controls at the faciliry are being
upgraded bemuse the faciliry will be remately operoted
from the East Side Water Treatment Plant after the installation
of a new SCADA system.
Iron Bridge Pump
Station Renovation ~r
Upgrades
Dallas, Texas
The Iron Bridge Pump Statian, ariginally construded in
1964 on Tawakoni Lake, has an existing capocity of
approximately 220 MGD. It is a significant component in
the Ciry of Dallas' raw water supply system, possessing nearly
one third of the City's raw water pumping capaciry. (arter
8 Burgess is providing renovations ond upgrodes to increase
pumping mpociry to 310 MGD, improve system reliability,
extend the life of the faci liry for another 30 years and provide
the capabi lity of a totally remotely operated stati on through
the use of a S(ADA system.
The initial phase of the projed involved preparation of a
desiqn report that included condition assessments and
upgrade recommendations for all structural, civil,
mechanical, eledrical and architedural romponents of the
pump station. Key recommendations included re-
configuration of four ezisting 40-MGD pumping units,
installation offour new 65-MGD pumping unih, replacing
piping and valves, intake screens, sluice gates and all
eledrical, instrumentation and controls. This phase also
included providing internal inspedions and surge analysis
10
