Dinision 2-A Site Work <br />WETTING: If the existing soils do not contain optimum to <br />+3% moisture, while scarified, wet the soil until 2'-6" <br />deep and flooded until the top 2 feet are moist as <br />described. Compact as above and build sub-grade. Soak <br />site with sprinklers as required before select fill is <br />placed and at each lift of fill as required. Do not allow <br />sub-grade and select fill to dry. Cover with plastic the <br />portion not being worked. Keep wet until slab is poured: <br />SELECT SILI,: Material for fill shall be uniformly blended <br />sand or clayey sand have a plasticity index not to exceed <br />12 nor less than 4. Place the fill in 8" lifts and compact <br />to 95% Standard Proctor density at optimum moisture. Each <br />layer shall be placed and compacted with pneumatic rollers <br />or vibrating.compactor. Each layer shall be watered as <br />required to optimum or optimum +3 moisture. Bring to a <br />smooth finish 9" below finish floor line. <br />GRADE SSAMS: Do all excavation necessary to bring beams to <br />the depth shown. Trenches shall be of width necessary to <br />allow construction of forms and their proper removal. The <br />contour of beams and slabs is shown on plans. Do all <br />excavation required for the installation, bracing, and <br />wrecking of exterior forms. Make such provision as <br />necessary for drainage of the excavated area in case of <br />rain. After underground plumbing pipes are in place, the <br />surface shall be thoroughly'tamped and brought to a true <br />and even grade for the reception of slab cushion as shown <br />on plans and described hereinafter. <br />SLAS CIISHION: Furnish and install a smooth bed "to grade" <br />for a 4" cushion under floor consisting of a compacted <br />layer of sand free from lumps of clay and other organic <br />matter. Slab cushion shall be finished to a smooth uniform <br />surface for the installation of waterproof inembrane as <br />called for under Concrete Work. <br />TERttITE PROTECTION: Treat soil beneath the building slabs <br />by spraying surface with a 0.5 percent solution of Dursban <br />T.C. or approved equal using not less than: two gallons of <br />- chemical per 100 gallons of water and 100 gallons of <br />solution per 1000 sq. ft. of surface area. Provide extra <br />treatment at foundation wall and plumbing. <br />11 <br />
