Division 4 <br />Masonry <br />' MASONRY <br />SCOPE: This Division covers all masonry shown on plans, <br />and herein specified, including mortar concrete masQnry <br />units for walls, and metal wall ties. The Mason shall <br />furnish and install concrete and steel in lintel <br />units-Division 3-B and 3-C, steel lintels-Division 5, <br />In-wall flashing, Masonry Wa11 insulation-Division 7-B, <br />8" x 8" x 16" and 8" x 8" x 8" full split face custom <br />concrete masonry units and 4" x 8" x 16" 8 rib split as <br />shown. <br />GENERALs The Mason shall protect the property of Owner and <br />The work of other trades and be responsible for damage <br />caused by him or due to his neglect. He shall provide <br />scaffolding and bracing for masonry work. Furnish and <br />install all flashing and anchors. Cooperate with othgr <br />trades in the installation of their work. Brace masonry <br />work and properly protect it. All sills, projections, etc. <br />- shall be protected with poly and the necessary boards to <br />hold it in place. At the close of each day's work, freshly <br />laid masonry work shall be protected from the weather. No <br />masonry shall be laid when the temperature of outside air <br />is below 40°F. Before starting work, he shall make sure <br />that all aluminum is properly protected from mortar as <br />called for in Division 8-A. <br />CLEAt13NG:: Remove all debris, refuse, and surplus material <br />from the premises. Ifpon completian, all iaasonry shall be <br />cleaned down with high pressure water and "Sure-Klean" No. <br />600, or approved equal as manufactured by the Process <br />Solvent Co., Kansas City, Kan. During the process of <br />cleaning, all masonry surfaces shall be carefully checked <br />for loose mortar, holes, cracks, etc.. All such defects <br />sha11 be carefully repointed and filled. When necessary, <br />joints in face work shall be cut out and repointed using <br />care to match the old mortar in color and texture. When so <br />directed, use such other means as necessary to remove <br />mortar, paint, asphalt, etc., and leave the work clean and <br />presentable. <br />STORAGE OF MATERIALS: All masonry materials including <br />cement, and face brick shall be properly stored and <br />protected from the weather and mud. <br />
