CENSTRUCTION: All masonry shall be laid to a true <br />line and well bedded in Type "S" mortar with all vertical <br />joints filled. The iaason shall build in a11 steel anchars, <br />lintels, etc. as shown and required. Cooperate with other <br />trades in the installation of wall expansion joints, thru <br />wall flashing, counter flashing, where shown on plans and <br />required. All joints shall be tooled and braught to a <br />smooth hard surface. Remove protruding mortar from masonry <br />at the end of each day. Do not wait until completion. <br />BONDING: Masonry shall be laid to a true and level line <br />and vertical joints shall line on a2ternate courses. <br />Masonry shall be laid "running bond" or half bond. <br />The arches shall be layed on wood teiaplets constructed by <br />the Carpenter. The carpenter shall construct scaffolding, <br />centering, and support for brick arch construction. The <br />Mason shall lay out, guide and the direct the carpenter in <br />this construction. <br />JOINTING: The coursing of concrete masonry units is shown <br />on the drawings. Joints are approximately 3/8" and shall <br />match existing masonry work. Masonry joints shall be: <br />tooled with a 1" diameter tool to form a smooth dense <br />concave joint, to match existing masonry work. When mor~ar <br />has su8ficiently set, the joints of all face work shall be <br />carefully repointed as required. Remove protruding mortar, <br />splotches, and other surface irregularities. This part of <br />the work must be done from day to day as the work <br />progresses and must not be postponed until completion. <br />LINTELS: All masonry openings shall have concrete lintel <br />units. Unless otherwise shown, lintels shall be reinforced <br />with two #4 rods. Provide 8" bearinq at each eTrd. <br />~ ~ <br />
