Division 5-A <br />t e- <br />_ STRUCTURAL STEEL AND MISCELLANEOUS METAL <br />SCOPE OF WORK: This Division covers all labor, materials, and <br />-equipment required for the installation of structural steel <br />and miscellaneous metal shown on plans and described herein <br />including steel columns, steel beams,g.4C joists, and steel . <br />roof PERt.0Ma, ' - <br />Reinforcing steel is called for in Division 3-B. <br />SHOP DRAWINGS: Contractor shall examine the drawings and . <br />speci ications and acquaint himself with the work to be done. <br />He shall furnish the Architect with shop drawings as required. <br />PAINTING: All structural steel shall receive at least one <br />s oi7 p coat of rust inhibitive primer. Bar joist shall be <br />primed same as above and not with asphalt primer. Other <br />painting is called for under Division 9-H. <br />l STRUCTURAL STEEL shall be detailed, fabricated, and erected <br />accor ing to t e Standard Specification of the American <br />Institute of Steel Construction. Unless otherwise shown all <br />structural steel shall comply with ASTM A36. Steel columns <br />shall be set on steel wedges and filled under with at least <br />1/2" of Embeco grout. See plans for the size and location of <br />structural steel. Structural steel shall be made plumb, true, <br />and level. Provide temporary bracing as necessary to resist <br />wind during erection. <br />Furnish and install steel inserts in concrete panels as detailed <br />for welding to bar joists, beams, and each other. Shop connec- <br />tions may be either welded or bolted. Field connection shall <br />be bolted, or welded. All welding shall be in accordance with <br />the Standards of the American Welding Society Code for fusion <br />welding. <br />STEEL COLUMNS shall be of rectangular tubes, size shown with <br />wel e steel base and cap plate top and bottom. Provide anchor <br />bolts and plate5 required. <br />zi <br />
