Boys baseball games are typicallyplayed five days a week leaving Saturdays and Sundays available
for rest and rainout days. Typically each team plays two games a week and three games can be
played per field per night. At this rate a total of 15 games a week can be played on a single field.
For this analysis, one game field for each 14 teams is applied as the targeted standard.
The following table represents the carrying capacity of the youth baseball fields based on the
number of teams in Paris.
*The estimated number of teams in 2023 is based on double the City of Paris's 1.3% population growth per
year - a total of 2.6% increase per year.
As shown in the table above, the City of Paris has a sufficient amount of fields for the current
youth baseball needs and into the future. If the growth in youth baseball grows at a faster pace than
predicted, additional fields will be needed in the future. In addition, lawn areas for practice are
always desired for youth baseball.
Youth Softball
The Paris Youth Softball League currently plays all there games at the Paris Sports Complex and
practices at any free location around town. Games are typically played on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays each week and a total of six games are played per day. The existing facility
has a total of five softball fields, four of which are lighted: 2 - 300' fields and 3 - 200' fields. Youth
girls softball all play on the 200' fields and the 300' fields are typically used for the adult softball
league. No information was obtained from the Adult Softball League in Paris. For this analysis,
one game field for each 14 teams is applied as the targeted standard.
CiE %45-7
City of Paris Parks, Recreation & Open Space Master Plan 2013 -2023
Page 26
Number of
Number of
Number of
Number of
Number of
Existing
Required
Required
Age Groups
Game Fields
Teams
Game Fields
Teams
Game Fields
2013
202
2013
2013
2023
U4
1
10
1
13
1
U6 - U8
2
21
1
27
2
U10
1
13
1
17
1
U10 -U12
2
22
1
28
2
U14
1
12
1
15
1
Total
7
78
5
100
7
*The estimated number of teams in 2023 is based on double the City of Paris's 1.3% population growth per
year - a total of 2.6% increase per year.
As shown in the table above, the City of Paris has a sufficient amount of fields for the current
youth baseball needs and into the future.
