The term does not include: (A) an industrial facility <br /> to which access is limited principally to employees of the facility <br /> because of processes or functions that are hazardous to human safety <br /> or health; (B) a federal building or installation (civilian or <br /> military); (C) a private residence; (D) an apartment building with <br /> no more than four dwelling units; or (E) a manufacturing facility <br /> or building that is limited to workers and invited guests under <br /> controlled conditions; (F) a building, facility, or any portion of <br /> which has been determined to be structurally unsound and in danger <br /> of imminent collapse by a professional engineer, registered <br /> architect, or a city, county, or state government official. <br /> <br /> 1.1.107 Regulated area - The demarcated area in which asbestos abatement <br /> activity takes place, and in which the possibility of exceeding the <br /> permissible exposure limits (PEL) for the concentrations of airborne <br /> asbestos exists. An area established by the employer to demarcate <br /> areas where Class I, II, and III asbestos work is conducted, and any <br /> adjoining area where debris and waste from such asbestos work <br /> accumulate; and a work area within which airborne concentrations of <br /> asbestos, exceed or there is a reasonable possibility they may <br /> exceed the permissible exposure limit. <br /> <br /> 1.1.108 Removal - All operations where ACM and/or PACM is taken out or <br /> stripped from structures or substrates, and includes demolition <br /> operations. <br /> <br /> 1.1.109 Renovation - Altering in any way on or more facility components. <br /> Operations in which load-supporting structural members are wrecked <br /> or taken out are excluded. <br /> <br /> 1.1.110 Repair - Overhauling, rebuilding, reconstruction, or reconditioning <br /> of structures o substrates, including encapsulation or other repair <br /> of ACM or PACM attached to structures or substrates. <br /> <br /> 1.1.111 School - any elementary or secondary school as defined in section <br /> 198 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. <br /> 2854). <br /> <br /> 1.1.112 Shower room - A room between the clean room and the equipment room <br /> in the worker decontamination enclosure with hot and cold or warm <br /> <br />-- 4/11/03 34 <br /> <br /> <br />
