The following projects represent recent V/As and associated surveillance and
security system projects:
Surveillance and Security System Improvements
Wesley Seale Dam/Choke Canyon Dam/Pump Station
FNI designed a system that will provide video surveillance and access
security at two large high-hazard dams, one small dam, and two water
transmission pump stations. FNI is also providing representation
services while the project is in construction. The design included the
identification of critical points in the system to be monitored or
secured, siting of video cameras based on the viewing coverage needed, and the
selection and specification of the surveillance and security hardware and software.
The project also includes renovations to an existing building to create an
Emergency Operations Center at one of the large dams to provide remote
monitoring of the other sites. The design of the remote monitoring network
included the selection of a telecommunications architecture that would be cost-
FREESE AND effective and still provide the required surveillance.
NICHOLS:
HELPING YOU
PROTECT YOUR
WATER SUPPLY
Innovative approaches . .
rmoil
FrNN .M NlGlwlf
practical results
Vulnerability Assessment and Security Inspections AEP Power Plant
Dams
American Electric Power Company, Texas
FNI was hired by the American Electric Power Company to conduct
security inspections at five power plant cooling water dams located in
Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. The inspections consisted of a review of the project
plans, a site visit and a letter report of observations, conclusions and
recommendations. The report identified the portions of the facilities that were most
vulnerable to attack by terrorists and recommended methods and procedures to
mitigate these vulnerabilities.
Vulnerabiliry A>sessment and Emergency Re±ponse Plan SOQ page 12
