Most recently, we worked with the City of Abilene, Texas in the selection of their new City Manager and utilized the input from community groups to effectively create a customized position profile and brochure. A copy of tlle brochure is in included as Appen@ B of tIlls proposal for tIle City's review, In the development of the profile, WCG will also gather organizational charts, budgetary information, operational reports, and other documentation describing the operations and work1oad of the position as necessary. Additionally, we will use our knowledge of current developments in the operations of 10cal government to further assist the City in the development of the qualifications for this position. Consideration will be given to requirements such as formal education and specific work experiences. 'W'e understand ti,e importance of developing truly meaningful position requirements that meet the current needs of the City and that compliment the culture, goals and objectives of the City. Based upon ti,e results of the discussions with the City, community and staff interviews, and our review of other information, \VCG will develop a customized profile that represents a consensus view of the background, experiences, and other qualifications important for a successful City Manager for thc City of Paris. The draft profile will be presented to the City Council for review and final approval prior to initiating the solicitation and advertising strategy, In order to conduct an open recruitment and to encourage applications from a diverse pool of candidates, wce; will work with the City to develop a comprehensive advertising strategy to notify potentÎill candidates about the vacancy. wce; will review the current advertisement and suggest improvements, or re-advertise, if necessary. Advertisements will be placed in appropriate professional publications, local newspapers of record, and on Internet bulletin boards.
