II <br />METHODOLOGY & TECHNICAL APPROACH <br /> <br />TASK 4: <br />BACKGROUND INTERVIEWS AND REFERENCE CALLS <br /> <br />Once the City Council approves the group of preliminary fmalists, WCG will begin the <br />reference checking and background process. wce's reference and background checking <br />process is the hallmark of our successful executive search program. Immediately after the <br /> <br />review of the list of potential finalists by dIe City, WCG will obtain a list of eight to ten <br /> <br /> <br />work-related references for each potential finalist. Telephone contact is then made with the <br /> <br />references and sometimes with others in the specific industry (i.e. ICMA) that may know of <br /> <br /> <br />additional accomplishments and work experiences of the candidates. The purpose of these <br /> <br />reference interviews is not to solicit negative comments about the candidates, although they <br />may generate some, The purpose of these interviews is to allow WCG to complete our <br /> <br />understanding of the actual work experience and personal characteristics of the fmalists. <br />Specific questions to be asked about the candidates will be developed from the profile <br /> <br />approved by dIe City. <br /> <br />WCG is p1eased to partner with Pinkerton Investigation Services in the gathering of <br />infonnation about the financial histoty and the review of court records for each fmal <br /> <br />candidate.
