MINUTES <br />TRAFFIC COMMISSION <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 6, 1999 <br />5:15 o'clock P.M. <br />COUNCIL ROOM - CITY HALL <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, April 6, 1999 with the following <br />members present: <br />1. Charles Thompson <br />2. Mary Lane <br />3. George Robinson <br />4. Joel McCray <br />5. Edward Ellis <br />6. Ricky Mackey <br />7. Cleo Holmes <br />8. Irene Foreman <br />The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett. <br />Chairman George Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:15 P. M. <br />The minutes of the March 2, 1999 meeting were approved as submitted. <br />The first order of business was a request for Stop Signs on 16" Street N.W. stopping North <br />and South bound traffic on 16" N.W. at Campbell Street. <br />After learning that Paris Independent School District had made this request based on <br />reports by their bus driver and calls from parents in the area discussion was held and then <br />Ricky Mackey made a motion to recommend the Stop Signs be placed as requested. <br />Charles Thompson seconded and the motion passed 8 ayes to 0 nays. <br />Next a request for a No Parking Zone on the South side of the 100 block of East Long <br />Street from the West curbline of South Church Street to the West 120 feet was considered. <br />This request was referred to the commission after a lady appeared before the City Council <br />saying vehicles parked in this area prevented her from backing from her driveway across <br />the street. Assistant Chief Barnett related that Police Chief Karl Louis had looked at this <br />situation and requested the request be approved. <br />After discussion Mary Lane made a motion to recommend the No Parking Zone be placed <br />as requested. Cleo Holmes seconded and the motion passed 8 ayes to 0 nays. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 5:20 P. M. <br />James Barnett <br />
