and everyone that I asked about this problem. They told me, we are
having the same problem in our city. Okay, I think the only way you
are going to get them, because I have asked fifteen guys about the
test and about the job, and everyone of them had felonies, or they
didn't pass the test, and this is the God's truth. Now, I think we are
down to the point where the city is going to have to bellie -up, hire a
recruiter, go out there and one at a time. Do what you got to do to
get it done. I don't know no other way of doing it. We can sit here
and talk all day, but it is not going to happen because I have been
working hard for six months to bring them here. They took the test,
they didn't pass it. The ones that told me they were going to take
the test only one out of 12 took the test, and this is from the bottom
of my heart. I know we need minorities. We need minorities at
McCuistion. We need minorities everywhere in Paris, but what the
rest of the other companies are doing, they are recruiting, and they
are telling them exactly what the want, and those people get busy.
The city might even have to bellie -up and pay some moving fees.
That happens all the time, you know. Relocation fees are offered.
They bring these people in, let them look at what we have to offer,
and they are already certified. They want to move, and they bring
them all in here, and that is my suggestion. I have done everything
else that I know.
McEwin, O.B. Highway 79, Route 1, Box 107, 1 just wanted to drop in a minutes
and listen. I have been listening to the discussion about the
minorities and jobs. We get them at our church. They are coming
back to church. Most times whenever we get an application for a
job for the city department, it has been taken. Why do we wait so
long, why do we be the last one to get the application. Whenever we
pin up one we have young boys that have left here from our church
they fill them out and sent them in, they never did call them to come
take the test, no nothing, we never know. That is what I want to
know, so finally, you know, a lot of time when they do get it to go find
out about it, the job was posted last week, and it has been taken.
Malone There is a designation to be made between the Civil Service and the
non -Civil Service. For the non -Civil Service, the process is to have
your name at Texas Workforce Commission on record as applying
for a job, and then, they do whatever skills assessment that they do,
