M I N U T E S <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING <br />December 16, 1987 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session and for a <br />social at 4 p.m., December 16, 1987 at the home of the Chairman, Bill Hagood, <br />with Mrs. Hagood as hostess. Board members present were Virginia Gibbs, <br />Rogene Patterson, Jackie Alsobrook, Beth Shelton, and Jean Gibson with Robert <br />Pierson and Sally Cecil of the Friends absent. Mayor Billy Joe Burnett, City <br />Manager Michael Malone, Dick Boots and Sue Smith of the City also attended, <br />along with Pamela Sidneli and Roslyn Sample from the Library. <br />The minutes of last meeting were approved and the financial report was <br />presented. <br />The appointment of Eric Tate as a new board member was announced. <br />Written guidelines on the auditorium policy were presented to board members. <br />Discussion on charges to cover clean -up cost, advance reservations, designated <br />smoking areas, adult supervision of youth group meetings, etc. was held. The <br />new auditorium will be available when the chairs arrive and a decision on the <br />policy was postponed until the January 20th meeting. <br />Mrs. Sample said that a table is needed for the English literacy groups <br />and Ms. Sidnell reported that her movies would begin in January with American <br />movies in February and fables in March and that story time would also begin <br />in January. <br />The Christmas float did not materialize because the cleaning crew <br />mistakenly threw out the box intended for the fireplace and because a reservation <br />had not been made to enter the parade. <br />Mrs. Sample said that the old City of Paris Bottleworks bottle dated <br />1890 found by Jack Rader of the City and placed in one of the borrowed heritage <br />cabinets was stolen on the first day of display. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m. <br />Date approved <br />Frances Ellis, Secretary <br />
