Minutes of the 'is Public Library Advise Board Meeting <br />July 16, 1986 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met July 16, 198 at <br />4:00 p.m. in the Library with Chairman Virginia Gibbs presiding. <br />Board members present were Bill Hagoud, Reeves Hayter, Don Black, <br />Beth Shelton, Robert Pierson, Rogene Patterson. Board members <br />absent were Frances Ellis, Jackie Alsobrook and Bill Neely from <br />the Friends of the Paris Public Library. Also present were <br />Tiana Williams, Director of Library Services, Dick Boots, Director <br />of Community Facilities, Roslyn Sample and Cathi Swaim of the Paris <br />Art Development Council. <br />Minutes of the May 20, 1986 meeing were approved as mailed. <br />Cathi Swaim announced that the Texas Committee for the Arts had <br />granted $2,000 for a mural: this grant has to be matched by local <br />contributions. The mural will be done by Dr. John Biggers and will <br />belong to the Library. Preliminary acceptance of the mural was <br />made pending approval of sketches by the Library Advisory Board. <br />Reeves Hayter, Don Black, Bill Hagood and Tiana Williams will meet <br />with Mr. Biggers the first week in August. <br />Mr. Boots announced that the Library building plans and <br />specifications have to be approved in Austin. Bids are scheduled <br />for August 6 (approval: August 11) and the construction contract will <br />be completed a week to 10 days from approval. Actual construction <br />will begin September 1 -15, 1986. <br />Bill Hagood reported that Betty Swasko had installed the word <br />processing program. Bill Lamb and Betty Swasko are gather information <br />for a data base program. The main tasks are delinquency file, ordering <br />and budget keeping, patron data base and word processing. <br />During open discussion Tiana thanked the Board for help on the <br />groundbreaking and Bill Hagood for help with the microcomputer. <br />A major check -out drive might be helpful prior to the lowering of <br />the children's floor. A public education program to inform the public <br />through the newspaper and presentation will be done.
