r-. <br />PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />BOA-,L,D OF DIRECTORS I M'E,ETING, MAY' 177 1977 <br />The Board of Directors f or the Paris Public Library met in regular <br />session My 17, 1977 at the Library at 10�,a.m. with the Chairman, <br />Robert i presiding. Present were F lix Gibson, Dee Cunningham, <br />Dr. Don Black, Herschel McKinney, Pat Bassano, F. D. Mallory, Mrs. Marvin <br />Gibbs, and Mrs'. Printis Ellis, Secretary. Absent were David Denney, <br />Mrs. Glynn Lowe. Also attending were 1:rs.:;Baker and Mrs. Finch, Librarians, <br />and Harold Greene of the City. <br />Minutes of the April 19 meeting were read and corrected. <br />G ibson moved approval of the April financial reports which incli,ded <br />$310.00 more for termites in the flooring of the front room of the Library, <br />with $2428 in the Memorial Book Fund. Motion seconded, discussed and <br />passed. <br />Members discussed the small ad for the Paris News about the Memorial <br />Fund. <br />Mallory reported on the Budget and Finance Committee meeting with <br />City Manager, Mr. ST,,ieatt, and Mr. Green. Greene reported the figures <br />are nearly complete on the Library budget, including another $10,000 <br />possibly from the Revenue Sharing funds. <br />Attention was called to water blasting of the build -! -ng which <br />was being done, and Dr. Black said front doors would be cleaned when <br />V' is was finished. <br />Gibson reported possible annual meeting dates for July and Mrs. <br />Gibbs called to make reservations at the Gordon Coi.ntry Club for July 19. <br />Cunningham, chairman of Personnel Committee, said one application <br />had been received and turned over the City Manager, saying his committee <br />would meet with city officials when needdd. Dr. Mack said he would have <br />a call from .Austin that afternoon concerning the position and asked about <br />salary possibilities. He said he would discuss required salaries with <br />the person. <br />Pierson expressed appreciation to the Paris News photographer <br />for the excellent picture of the board and librarians at the .April <br />meeting. <br />McKinney read the proposed City Ordinance which would be on the <br />City Cou:�cil June meeting agenda, with the Library Board retaining control <br />of the S.W.Wilbor Memorial Fund. The Secretary will prepare a resolution <br />to the City Council relusting this formally. <br />The new ordinance would limit the Board membership to 7 and <br />members discussed how selection of the 7 should be made, with a decision <br />to be chosen by the June 21 meeting. <br />Meeting adjourned-at 11 a.m. <br />Mrs. Printis Ellis, Secretary <br />Date Approved: <br />
