PARIS PUBLIC LIBRAr--U <br />ADVISORY BOARD MEETING) May 161 1978 <br />The Advisory Boord for the Paris Public Library met in regular <br />session, lay 16, at 10 a.m. in the Library with the Chairman, Pat <br />Bassano presiding. Present were F. D. Mallory, Mrs, Marvin Gib0s, <br />David Denney! ; rs. Printis Ellis, Secretary. Also attending wore <br />staff mombors John 1astings, Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Finch. <br />Minutea of the April 18.meeting were read and approved as corrected. <br />The Chairman led a discussion of the 1ilbor Memorial Fund with an <br />income of :.;678, and 1561 spent. He asked Ilr. Hastings to st .dy the <br />Memorial fund books and discuss them at the next meeting. <br />In a discussion1 of the Library Budget for 1978 -- 1979, i•A'r. Greene <br />and Mr. Hastings said they were looking at arr,'ngeents to make a 40 <br />hour Mork wdek, longer hours for the Library to be open, renovating the <br />upstairs ar -a for llastins t office, and the lower level. A possible <br />$201000 from 1 avenue Charing Funds are included in the budgot for <br />Library improvoments. The Public clearings would be held on the City <br />Budget with Vfnal approval in June. <br />Bassano spoke of a lett -r from r. Louis Williams, President of <br />Paris Junior College requesting all study the Library situation in Paris <br />and Lamar County. <br />Denney roved the fines and fees received by the Library beginning <br />June 1 go to the City as it is done in all other City Departments. M. -tion <br />seconded, discussed and passed. <br />Hastings di sctssed the north East Texas Library Syb(hom and the <br />meeting in Gladewater when 1 -Irs. Theodore (Pam) Drake attended as a <br />Delegate from Faris. He discussed rules and regulations and advantages. <br />He mentioned possible increased requirements for Library memb, zrship. <br />Bassano presented a revised edition of the By -Laws for the Library, <br />and Greene said would check with city Council on the items. <br />Mrs. Printis Ellis,, Secretary <br />::eating adjourned at 11:30.
