PAGE 2
LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 21, 1994
Ms. Lewis reported on Children's Services saying story time attendance had
doubled for two year olds and therefore a second session was added. Faye
Townsdin is the storyteller and she is doing a superb job with the preschoolers. The
Library functions as an early childhood development center with its daily preschool
programs and the Tuesday program, "Books and Babies" is growing in popularity
with parents and caregivers. The Library has formed a partnership with Head Start
and will be sharing story sessions, some to be held in the Library and the others will
be provided by the Director in the schools. The Library also has an informal
partnership with Even Start and provides storytimes in the Library for those
children.
Ms. Lewis noted the Library now serves two retirement homes and she is discussing
the expansion of this service with two other senior center activity directors.
Mrs. Gibbs spoke about the Friends of the Library Fall Benefit Luncheon to be held
October 17 at the Paris Golf and Country Club. She advised reservations would be
taken through noon October 14 and encouraged everyone to attend.
The meeting adjourned at 5:15 PM.
r- <
Date Approved Frances A. Ellis, Secretary
