PAGE 2
LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD 10/19/94 MINUTES
Ms. Lewis reported the Friends of the Library luncheon October 17 had 169 paid
lunches, and the speaker cost about $275, with a profit of approximately $900 going
to the Friends' projects for the children's department.
A request for a commercial sign to be posted on the library bulletin board brought
about discussion and possibilities for such requests. The present policy sates no
commercial activities are to be advertised on the board. An additional board might
be placed for such announcements if feasible.
Ms. Lewis showed holiday pieces for the library yard, including candy canes and
large poinsettias. Mrs. Wood moved the Board approve these purchases, motion
seconded, and passed.
Ms. Lewis advised the Board that effective January 1, 1995, public libraries in
Texas will begin providing voter registration information. More information will be
provided by the Texas State Library and staff will be trained in the procedure.
Ms. Lewis shared copies of the Gallery policy and the Board added an additional
sentence that "only videos and films with public performance rights will be shown in
the Gallery during Library- sponsored events ". This will bring the library's policy
into compliance with NETLS requirements and thus the library will be eligible for
audio visual equipment grants.
The Board approved the $15 membership fee in the Texas Library Association for
Keitt Wood, NETLS Lay Representative.
The meeting adjourned at 5:10 PM.
Date Approved
0
Frances A. Ellis, Secretary
