PAGE 2 <br />ADVISORY BOARD 02/22/95 MINUTES <br />Mrs. Wood told about the February 15 Library Legislative Day in Austin, the tour of <br />the renovation of the State Capitol which is wonderful; and visits with legislators <br />from the District: Senator Bill Ratliff and Representative Pete Paterson. Rex moved <br />the Board pay the travel expenses for the trip for the Director and Mrs. Wood, <br />amounting to $478, but in 1997, the Director's share would be budgeted. Motion <br />seconded and passed. <br />Ms. Lewis reported three new staff members: Mary Bryant, part time, in the <br />Children's Department working with Emily Kirkman; Elda Brown, full time, <br />working in Technical Services; and Becky Alderman, part time, also working in <br />Technical Services. <br />Ms. Lewis told about the Police Athletic League Library which will be set up in the <br />PAL building, formerly the old Paris News building down town. Ricky Hayes is the <br />Police Department officer in charge and already there are 300 youth enrolled. Ms. <br />Lewis and City Manager Michael Malone agreed that appropriate excess furniture <br />and shelving; plus any weeded materials or unwanted donations, would be <br />contributed to the PAL Library. <br />Mrs. Kathie Gibbs advised the Friends of the Library luncheon was sold out. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5 :05 PM. <br />Date Approved Frances A.
