PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />March 22, 1995 <br />Minutes <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session, March 22, 1995, in <br />the Gallery with Chairman Beth Shelton presiding and these members present: <br />Jackie Alsobrook, Virginia Gibbs, Jean Gibson, Rogene Patterson, and Joe Rex. <br />Absent were Frances Ellis and Bill Hagood. Also present were Keitt Wood, <br />NETLS Lay Representative and Board member; Kathie Gibbs, Friends President; <br />and Beverly Lewis, Library Director. <br />The Minutes of the February 22, 1995, meeting were approved as circulated. <br />Ms. Lewis discussed the Budget Report, saying expenditures for the first five <br />months of the fiscal year were on target. <br />She said circulation was up again and in February 16,626 items were checked out <br />which resulted in a .7% increase over this time last year. She also noted a large <br />increase in reference assistance which was provided 2,823 times last month. Other <br />statistics included: 21 storytimes with 154 attendees; 4 Saturday programs with 131 <br />attendees; and one program to a nursing home with 15 attending. <br />Accessions included 555 books, 122 videos and 6 audio books. <br />Ms. Lewis advised the installation and training for the new automation system <br />would be the next to the last week in March and the Library would be closed a total <br />of seven days. There will be group and individual sessions. On Monday, March 27 <br />there will be an Open House for invited supporters. Tuesday, March 28 through <br />Saturday, April 1, will be an ongoing Open House for Library patrons. Tomorrow, <br />(March 23), Chairman Shelton and Director Lewis will be interviewed by Mike <br />Patterson for the "Inside Paris" radio show. There will be new Library brochures <br />available next week. <br />
