PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD <br />OCTOBER 18, 1995 <br />l <br />Jim <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session at 4 PM, <br />Wednesday, October 18, 1995, in the Library Gallery with Chairman Beth <br />Shelton presiding and these members present: Toni Donnan, Jean Gibson, <br />Rogene Patterson and Frances Ellis, Secretary. Absent were Jackie <br />Alsobrook, Virginia Gibbs, Joe Rex and Keitt Wood. Kathie Gibbs, Friends <br />President, and Beverly Lewis, Library Director were present. <br />There were no additions or corrections to the September 20, 1995, Minutes. <br />Ms. Lewis reported the City Finance Director had not yet provided the <br />September, 1995, Department Budget Report, which would indicate the <br />Department's FY 1994 -1995 status. <br />The September Statistical Report showed an increase in circulation of 19,378 <br />items over September of previous year. For FY 1994 -1995 the Library had <br />an overall circulation increase of 10% and 214,960 items were checked out. <br />This good news was also reflected in all other areas of service, including <br />reference, reserve requests, and program attendance. <br />Ms. Lewis indicated the Acquisitions module still has some areas which need <br />program updates. She advised Gaylord we will not make maintenance <br />agreement payments on the software until the problems are corrected. <br />Gaylord replied a task force is working to "fix" the problems. <br />She advised the first of the CD Rom reference products is here and " Infotrac" <br />will be installed soon. The second one is due shortly and will be installed on <br />the equipment already in place. <br />Children's services continue to be very successful with daily preschool <br />programs and/or school visits most popular. The Children's Librarian <br />attended a puppet workshop recently. We will coordinate a special stamp <br />collecting information fair with the Paris Stamp Club on October 28. <br />Volunteers are helping shelve materials in the Children's Department due to <br />
