Mr. Tate moved the Advisory Board provide a membership for the <br />Chairman to the American Library Trustee Association, a Division of <br />the American Library Association. The cost would be $85 and <br />benefits would include publications on important topics of library <br />trusteeship and workshops. The motion was seconded and passed. <br />Mrs. Patterson moved that money from the Money Market Account <br />be used to purchase a new set of World Book Encyclopedias. The 1979 <br />set from the Youth Department would be utilized as a trade -in to <br />obtain a $70 discount. The motion was seconded, discussed and <br />passed. <br />Mrs. Ellis moved the Advisory Board support the Director's <br />proposal to extend open hours until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesdays and <br />Thursdays beginning in October. The motion was seconded, discussed <br />and passed. The Director has submitted a preliminary budget request <br />for additional personnel compensation. The Library would open to <br />the public at 10:00 A.M. those days to allow time for professional <br />development meetings. <br />Mrs. Campbell announced she would speak to the Blossom Middle <br />School reading classes May 23 about reading and the Library's summer <br />activities. <br />Mrs. Campbell also expressed appreciation for the wedding gift <br />from the Board members. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:15 P.M. <br />Date Approved Frances Ellis, Secretary <br />
