Hagood showed the prototypes of the brass plaques for the <br />Culbertson portraits stating: "John J. Culbertson <br />1853 -1932, Distinguished Citizen, Donor of Original <br />Library, 193111, and "Emily Lee Culbertson 1858 - 1941, <br />Library Dedicated In Her Honor, 1931 ". <br />The Director said she and the Youth Librarian attended a <br />NETLS workshop about training the reference <br />paraprofessional. They will conduct in -house training for <br />the staff paraprofessionals about effective reference <br />service. <br />The Director also attended a meeting about the upcoming <br />White House Conference on Libraries and Information <br />Services which will be preceded by a Texas Conference. <br />She advised City Manager, Mike Malone, has been nominated <br />from the Region to attend the Texas Conference as a <br />municipal representative, but the final selection won't be <br />made until October. Other groups to be represented will <br />be Library Professionals and Lay Persons. Topics to be <br />emphasized will be automation, censorship and the <br />universal library card. <br />Hagood asked the three Board Members whose terms wre <br />expiring to serve as the Nominating Committee to report to <br />the July meeting. They are Mrs. Ellis, Mrs. Gibson, and <br />Mrs. Shelton. <br />The meeting adjourned at 5:10 PM to meet June 13, a week <br />early. <br />ate A proved Frances Ellis, Secretary <br />
