PARIS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />MINUTES <br />December 18, 1991 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in special <br />Christmas session at the home of Chairman and Mrs. Bill Neely, <br />December 18, 1991, at 4 PM. Present were Jackie Alsobrook, <br />Virginia Gibbs, Jean Gibson, Bill Hagood, Rogene Patterson, <br />Beth Shelton, and Frances Ellis, Secretary. Absent was Joe <br />Rex. Beverly Lewis, Library Director, was present; Thomas <br />Seay, NETLS Lay Representative, and Delores Hayter, President <br />of the Friends of the Library were also present. <br />Minutes of the November 20, 1991, meeting were approved as <br />circulated. <br />Ms. Lewis discussed the budget report saying there wern't any <br />problems to date. She said the statistical report indicated <br />only a 5.3% increase in circulation for November 1991 over the <br />same month last year, but a decrease in school assignments and <br />the change of school semester dates could account for it. She <br />said there are 54,018 titles in the collection and 1,422 <br />videos. The total number of cardholders is 31,821 and 163 new <br />cards were issued in November. <br />She reported three adult programs - the brown bag author's <br />lunches - with writers from the East Texas Writers' <br />Association, Lee Sommerville, and Bonnie Neely presenting <br />interesting programs. More will be held. She announced a <br />March 4 NETLS workshop to be hosted by Paris and held in the <br />Gallery - "How to Negotiate Politics ". <br />Jean Gibson moved Grandy's serve the evening meal for the <br />Volunteer Recognition event, January 22; motion seconded, <br />discussed, and passed. <br />Mrs. Hayter reported March 27 the date for the Book Review at <br />the Paris Golf and Country Club with a musical group from <br />Dallas. <br />Ms. Lewis reported Faye Townsdin's son died recently and Mrs. <br />Patterson moved a book be given in his memory; motion seconded, <br />discussed, and passed. <br />Ms. Lewis distributed the new "Love the Library" book bags, and <br />showed those for the children, "Hug A Book ". <br />Refreshments were served by the hosts and the meeting adjourned <br />at 5:15 PM. <br />Date Approved Frances Ellis <br />
