Library Advisory Board <br />July 22, 2004 <br />MINUTES OF THE CALLED OF THE LIBRARY <br />ADVISORY BOARD <br />AUGUST 3, 2004 <br />The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in a special called session <br />Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at 4:00 PM in the Library with Chairman Nancee <br />Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present: Anna <br />Davis, Carl Lucas, Jackie Alsobrook, Deborah Hatley and Bill Kennedy. <br />Also attending was Priscilla McAnally, Assistant Library Director, and <br />Betty Landon. Sarah Gambill, Jake Street, Walter Williams and Callie <br />Thompson, Friends' President did not attend. <br />The Board discussed the proposed 2004 -2005 City of Paris budget and its <br />affect on the library. Concern was expressed by the Board regarding the <br />proposed reduction of library staff by three people. Suggestions for <br />effectively informing City Council members and patrons of the changes in <br />library operations due to this cut in staff were discussed. <br />Some of the ideas to be implemented include: <br />Posting a notice within the library informing patrons of the board's <br />concerns. Notice would include the names and phone number for <br />contacting their City Councilperson. <br />Packets of information with details regarding the overall effect of cutting <br />staff members to be distributed to Council members as well as library <br />board members. <br />Library Board members and their friends were encouraged to attend the <br />public hearing on the proposed budget when the Council sets the date. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m. <br />: f �/�7/o 141- <br />Deborah Hatley Date <br />
