PARIS -LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH MINUTES The Paris -Lamar County Board of Health met at the Holiday Inn on October 31, 1989 at 7:00 a.m. Dr. Bercher called the meeting to order. Members present were: Dr. Bercher, Dr. Strom, Dr. Cutrell, Dr. Brooks and Mrs. Norment. Others present were: Dr. Anges B. Zavier, Loren Scott, Gene Anderson, Barbara Francis, Anthony Bethel, T. K. Haynes and Sharon Seals. Dr. Bercher opened discussion talking with Dr. Xavier about her duties at the health department should she be hired. Mentioned that Dr. Browning as an obstetrician would be willing to cooperate with her in this capacity and they plan to set up a meeting later with the OB's concerning this. Loren Scott would take care of the jail three mornings a week and Dr. Xavier would be at the Health Department probably two hours each morning. Dr. Xavier would be the physician in charge at the health department. Loren Scott would like to set up prenatal clinics and have walk in patients for other things that are minor in the way of patients needing treatment. If the volume of patients should increase it is possible that later on another clerk might be needed and there is definitely new equipment which would be needed with our laboratory as it has a very limited capacity right now. Dr. Xavier and Loren Scott left at 7:28 a.m. Barbara Francis and Dr. Bercher began a discussion concerning WIC. Dr. Bercher had a letter that T. K. Haynes had written to Austin about the WIC coverage. Austin wrote WIC about us not having a doctor there for coverage at this point and in turn T. K. Haynes talked with them first by telephone and then transposed a letter to the effect that we did have coverage. Barbara Francis left 7:36 a.m. The executive session of the board meeting started at 7:37 a.m. T. K. Haynes came in at this time. This is when the closed session started.
