could only work until August 9th. He said this presented quite a problem, <br />since Mosquito Control starts in March and continues until the first of <br />November, and sufficient funds are not provided in the budget to hire part - <br />time employees for Mosquito Control. The Board asked Dr. Bercher to discuss <br />this situation with The City Manager and Judge Fisher about the possibility <br />of either getting more money or perhaps loaning the Health Department emp- <br />loyees for these few months. <br />Hack Blankenship suggested that when Block Grants are available again thru <br />Revenue Sharing, that we apply for this. Mrs. Norment asked this to be on <br />our Agenda for the next meeting. <br />Mr. Pursifull also gave a report on the many jobs that are required of the <br />Sanitation Department, and how badly they need another Sanitation Inspector, <br />especially when one of them is tied up with a project such as the one now <br />with Campbell Soup, because of their fires. Dr. Bercher made the motion that <br />Mr. Pursifull hire another Sanitation Inspector, since the money is already <br />appropriated in the budget. Hack Blankenship seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />Dr. Hillhouse gave a report on the furnaces in the Health Department, stating <br />they had been condemned by the Fire Chief, and because of the urgency to get <br />new ones, he contacted two firms to give bids for these. The bids were sent <br />to the City Manager, and he, together with Judge Fisher, approved the bid of <br />$1,282.00 given by James Sharrock of Paris Air Conditioning and Insulation <br />Company. <br />Dr. Hillhouse also reported on a letter he had received from Austin, con - <br />cerninq non - recurring funds, in the amount of $4,000.00, being available <br />through the Preventative Health and Health Services Block Grant for the pur- <br />chase of equipment in local health departments. Dr. Hillhouse asked the <br />Board to approve the acceptance of these funds for supplies, etc., and then <br />transferring them so that we can have new floors or floor covering in the <br />
