$3,170 averaged over three years. That includes a purchase
price of $1,370 plus operating cost and service agreement.
The copier that is presently being used is five years old
and nearing the end of lease purchase agreement. An addi-
tional 10 percent of its cost would be paid in October, if
we were purchasing that and the board felt that purchase of
a new copier would be more reasonable. Dr. Cutrell moved
that we purchase the slightly used Minolta EP 350Z copier
for $1,370. Motion was seconded by Mrs. Ellis and approved
by the board. Mr. Anderson of the City and Mr. Bethel
agreed that there was money available in the budget for this
purchase.
Next on the agenda was the consideration of and action
on reclassification of Sharon Seals. Mrs. Seals has taken
on new responsibilities in the absence of Mrs. Betty Kennedy
who has retired. Proposal was made to advance her from
Clerk II to Clerk III status which would involve a raise in
salary from $12,005.80 to $13,445.00 per year. The board
agreed that this was certainly justified in view of her new
responsibilities and that she was capable of carrying out
these duties. Motion was made by Mrs. Ellis, seconded by
Dr. Strom and approved by the board.
In addition to this, discussion was held regarding
other employee policies such as holidays and this will be
discussed further at the next meeting. Mr. Bethel will
prepare a list of holidays for us comparing the city, county
and Health Department policies at present and other
employee policies will be reviewed from the city employee
manual. Mr. Bethel also provided job descriptions for the
Health Unit Director and other employees. These will be
reviewed by members of the board and discussed at the next
meeting.
Several items of old business were discussed. One was
the general maintenance of the Health Department building.
Several priority needs have been identified. One is the
fact that there are several leaks in the roof. Some are
minor and some are more significant. Mr. Bethel will obtain
bids from several roofing companies for patching of the
present leaks and also for complete replacement of the roof
should that become necessary later. It was not thought that
that was necessary at this time but that patching would be
sufficient. He will also survey the drains from the roof to
make certain that they are not stopped up because it is flat
roof prone to collect water.
