Mr. McLaurin told the RHC board the results of the
facilities work group meeting held Monday, October 18,
1993 at 1:00 PM. The meeting took place at the old
Safeway building. It was decided that this building was
not a good option. Mr. McLaurin said that there are a
number of buildings around depending on the money
available. He suggested possibly starting up in the
current building and moving to a larger building at a
later date. Julie Maddox said she understood that there
is possibly a problem with asbestos and/or lead in the
building.
Mike Norby suggested a present plan to remain where the
Health Department is until a better building is found.
Evelyn asked the RHC board for their opinion on hiring a
consultant to keep everything going. To keep up with the
phone calls from the State. To pull everything together,
to keep up with all the information coming in. Ron Ragan
agrees with Evelyn. Julie Maddox and Troy Owens don't
think we need a consultant. Ron Ragan clarified by saying
someone other than a volunteer. Evelyn said even if the
person was paid $5,000.00 to $7,500.00. Mike Norby asked
if possibly someone part-time.
Carrie Thompson told the RHC board that she is going to
the Nurse Practitioners State Convention and would be
happy to take some fliers to be posted about possible
positions available.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30. The time and place of the
next meeting will be decided at a later date.
Respectfully Submitted,
C4J Di ckinson, Clerk
is-Lamar County Health Department
