PARIS -LAMAR COUNTY HEALTH BOARD <br />MINUTES <br />The Paris -Lamar County Health Board met on Tuesday, February 18, 1992 at the <br />Holiday Inn. <br />Quorum present was: Dr. Cutrell, Dr. Moseley, Mrs. Norment, Mrs. Ellis, Dr. <br />Strom, and Dr. Kraft. Others present were: T.K. Haynes, Anthony Bethel, and <br />Sharon Seals. <br />Dr. Cutrell called the meeting to order at 6:59 A.M. Dr. Bercher called and <br />could not attend. <br />Dr. Cutrell read the minutes and they were approved by all. <br />T.K. Haynes discussed old business. He urged Anthony to send a letter and a <br />copy of these minutes as soon as possible to Pete Patterson. Our Veneral <br />Disease person is being funded directly from the State of Texas. Dr. Strom <br />talked to Ronnie Anderson and Don Peterson in Austin, The new State Health <br />Director has discovered that the right hand does not know what the left <br />hand is doing in our local health departments. <br />Dr. Fetner is supposed to return to work at the health department on March <br />18, 1992 and work maybe 8 hours a week. Dr. Skie is seeing patients on Tues- <br />day and Thursday mornings at the health department. Dr. Cutrell urged us to <br />overbook our patients, since we have many no shows. <br />Kim Elsom, R.N. at the health department has mailed necessary papers to Aus- <br />tin concerning the OB -GYN School in Dallas. <br />The Sub - Committee, Anthony Bethel, Dr. Strom, and Mrs. Ann Norment met on two <br />occasions since our last board meeting. Dr. Strom checked with the State <br />Health Department on information concerning the Paris Health Services. Mrs. <br />Norment talked with Senator Ratliff. Paris Health Services' building is <br />leased from Nathan Bell. Mr. Ostergren established Paris Health Services here <br />5 years ago. He was a figurehead and cannot be located now. They are funded <br />with Title XX money and the State of Texas writes the employees' checks. <br />Dr. Cutrell suggested that we start sending a quarterly letter from our <br />chairman to Tyler Region 7 and Austin,stating the goals and aims of our health <br />department. Dr. Cutrell suggested that our board members get together and <br />make a trip to Tyler in March to discuss Title XX money. Anthony will make an <br />Agenda and handle all arrangements for this luncheon meeting. <br />The news about 6 students testing positive for Aids in Bogata was discussed. <br />Dona Spence is being questioned by the State Health Department concerning <br />the validity of her statements. Stewart Blood Drive has not had any positive <br />HIV tests in past 3 years. <br />Anthony gave the monthly report. <br />The next board meeting will be the trip to Tyler the third week in March. <br />This meeting adjourned at 8:00 A.M. <br />
