MINUTES OF MEETING
PARIS -LAMAR COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH
The Paris -Lamar County Board of Health held its regular
monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Christus
St. Joseph's Hospital. Board members in attendance
included Dr. Ed Clark, Dr. Caroline Wilson, Mrs. Ann
Norment, Dr. Robert Moseley, and Dr. Wally Kraft. Others
in attendance included Mr. Mike Malone, Mr. Paul Swasko,
Mrs. LaDonna Koehn, Mr. Anthony Bethel, Mr. Harold
Higgins, and Dr. Paul McGaha.
The meeting was called to order at 7:07 am, and the
minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Dr. McGaha discussed the recent outbreak of Hepatitis A in
Lamar County since the first of the year and handed out
statistics concerning the outbreak. Harold Higgins
discussed the reporting of Hepatitis A, and the
availability of gamma globulin. Dr. Wilson suggested that
the hospitals change their policy to include HepA IGM in
their panel tests. Dr. Kraft wanted something put in the
Paris News about the Hepatitis A outbreak, and wanted the
food handlers notified of the outbreak.
Anthony Bethel and Harold Higgins discussed the
immunization grant. Anthony informed the Board that the
only thing differently we would have to do would be to
send a Nurse to all schools and day cares in Lamar County
to audit immunization records.
Anthony Bethel passed out monthly reports, and informed
the Board that the Health Department is in the process of
signing up for the CHIPS program.
The next meeting was scheduled for August 23rd, at
McCuistion Regional Medical Center at 7am. The meeting
adjourned at 8:05am.
Respectfully submitted,
Anthony Bethel
