Ms. Merritt said the City did come in and place a <br />culvert and it sticks out further than the ditch and it is just about filled up. Mr. Merritt <br />informed the Committee that the City put a culvert in her neighbor's driveway to the <br />west of her property and when it rains water stands under her house. Ms. Merritt said <br />that on the south side of her house she had cross -ties place there and when we had a <br />flash flood, one of the cross -ties washed across her neighbor's driveway. Ms. Merritt <br />asked that something be done to correct this situation. <br />Regina Warner, 210 S. E. 25th Street, 785 -8982, appeared before the committee telling <br />them that there is a creek behind her privacy fence and every time it rains water comes <br />into her backyard and is washing her backyard away. Ms. Warner said she can not <br />keep grass in her backyard. <br />Claudia Vickers, 230 25' S. E. Street, 739 -9142, came forward telling the Committee <br />that her problem is the creek is washing her property away, Ms. Vickers said it is <br />already up in her yard and washing out a big hole. Ms. Vickers said the concrete in the <br />creek is falling in,and would like something done about this problem. <br />Lucius Joe, 161017th N. E. Street, 785 -4069, appeared before the Committee stating that <br />he has been before the City Council before about 17'h N. E. Street. Mr. Joe said they <br />are losing their front yard because the dirt is washing away. Mr. Joe said there are a <br />lot of new homes in this area. Mr. Joe said they came before the City Council asking <br />the City Council to consider either curbing it or curbing and guttering it. Mr. Joe <br />figured out how to finance this project and felt that the City`Engineer still has the <br />record on that project, but after that, nothing was done regarding the curb and <br />guttering. Mr. Joe stated that they still would like the city to consider this project. <br />Joe McCarthy, 1260 17"' N. E. Street, 785 -9842, appeared before the City Council <br />stating he wanted to reinforce the comments that Mr. Joe made. Mr. McCarthy said <br />he has been in that neighborhood for 32 years and for the last twenty years they have <br />been trying to curb and gutter in this area. He pointed out that the neighborhood has <br />grown tremendously, and it would really improve the neighborhood to have curb and <br />gutter installed. He also pointed out that 17t' N. E. is a through street now, and there <br />is a lot of traffic. Mr. McCarthy said the homeowners are willing to pay their portion <br />of improving the street, and curb and gutter. <br />Joe Brooks, Jr.,122517' N. E. Street, appeared before the Committee telling them that <br />he has lived there since 1990, and they really need the drainage improvement. Mr. <br />Brooks urged the Committee to consider the drainage improvement. <br />
