City Manager Malone advised that the city has talked to Mr. Wilson
about cleaning this ditch out, but Mr. Wilson does not want this to be done.
City Manager Malone suggested leaving this project for another time.
The City Manager said Project Number Eight is right next to the above
ditch which is part of the channel that is east of Collegiate Drive, and as
you know, the city has completed from Collegiate Drive back to the west
up to 12th Street. City Manager Malone told the Committee that this is an
area that has not been channelized or cleaned out, and is just north of the
Super Center. Mr. Townsend said some of this drainage area may be
addressed with the Sports Complex.
Project Number Nine is in the area of 17th Street S. E and Cedar which
drains to the south into the channel that was talked about that has been
completed. City Manager Malone said that several years ago the Housing
Authority constructed the housing units on Jackson Street and parts of this
projects were completed, but it is probably going to need maintenance and
it might be something that can be done with funds from the USDA.
City Manager Malone advised that the Tenth Project is 10' Street S. E. and
the estimated cost for this project is 1.3 million dollars in the Master Plan,
which is a 1993 estimate. He said this would consist of concrete channels
and various structures under the streets, and resizing culverts. City
Manager Malone's recommendation for this project at this point in time,
