MINUTES
AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD
TUESDAY, MAY 30, 1979
7:15 O'CLOCK P. M.
PARIS, TEXAS
The Airport Advisory Board met in regular session in the terminal building at
Cox Field Airport on Tuesday, May 30, 1979, at 7:15 P.M. with the following
members present:
1. Rick Rex, Chairman 3. Allie O'Brien
2. James Moseley 4. Tom Mallison
Also in attendance were Jim Collier, Airport Manager, Bruce McMonigle, Bill
Booth, James Wrenn and Don Whitaker.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Rex and the minutes were approved
as mailed.
Old Business.:
1. Progress on T- Hanger construction: Mr. Collier reported that the construction
of the hangers would be complete by June 1, 1979. However, the paving of the
adjacent apron and the necessary taxiway improvements would not be started
until the hanger of Andy Fasken and his associates was ready for its apron and
taxiway paving (see item No. 3).
2. Bids on new fuel tanks: the City Council will be unable to fund the new
tanks until at least FY 1980 -81 for primarily two reasons. First, the cost
of apron and taxiway improvement to the new hangers (items 1 and 3 of these
minutes) has been estimated by Hayter Engineering Company to be far greater
the previously expected (in the neighborhood of $80,000), and this cost will
use up all funds available in the FY 1978 -79 budget, leaving no funds remaining
for fuel tanks or for the proposed new apron in the same area. The added cost will
result from increased asphalt prices plus far greater costs for subgrade and soil
stabilization required by the FAA to meet or exceed a 12,500 pound per axle
load. Second, the City Council will be unable to allocate any capital funds
to the airport due to the magnitude of the street, sewer, and drainage problem
they are experiencing in the City. The proposition of new fuel tanks was
tabled, to be considered at each future airport-board meeting, in hopes that
the bids on the paving of the new aprons and taxiways fall far enough short of
the engineer's estimates, allowing funds to be available for the tanks.
3. Progress on Fasken et al hanger: Mr. Collier reported that these hangers will
probably be under construction in about 30 days.
