Mrs. Young seconded the motion which carried unanimously. <br />The next item was a public hearing to consider the petition of Mr. James <br />Rheudasil for a change in zoning from a Multi - Fancily Dwelling District No. 1 <br />(MF -1) to a Commercial District (C) on Lot 1, City Block 266 located on <br />the southeast corner of 17th N.E. and loop 286 N.E. <br />Mr. Rheudasll stated his proposal to utilize a portion of the property for <br />an Implement company. A metal building is to be constructed for their use. <br />Austin Dowdy, an adjacent land owner, spoke in favor of the change. <br />There was no opposition to the change and after discussion Mr. Lynch mdea <br />a motion to recommend approval of the petition. Mr. fuller seconded the <br />motion which carried unanimously. <br />The next item was a public hearing to consider the petition of J. W. McCoy, <br />Sr. for a change in zoning from an Agricultural District (A) to a Commercial <br />District (C) on Lot 6, City Block 318 located on the north side of Loop 286 <br />N.E. approximately 754 feet west of 34th N.E. <br />Mr, McCoy was present and stated his desire to develop a four suite office <br />building on the west portion of the property. No plans have been made for <br />the remainder of the tract. <br />There was,no one else present to speak for or against the change and follow- <br />ing discussion a motion was made by Mr. Pruitt, seconded by Mr. lynch, to <br />recommend approval to the City Council, The motion carried unanimously. <br />A public hearing was then he to consider the petition of H. L. Erwin for <br />a change in zoning from a Two Family Dwelling DisttT -.t (2F)-to a Commercial <br />District (C) on Lots 5 and 6, City Block 189 located on the northwest corner <br />of Bonham Street and 13th N.W. <br />Eric Clifford, attorney representing Mr. Erwin, stated his client had pur- <br />chased the property believing it to be zoned properly for used car sales. <br />He went on to say that the previous owner had operated a repair garage <br />behind the house on Lot 5 for the last eight years. No new buildings are <br />proposed for the property but tine owner was seeking the right to sell cars <br />and to have an advert l s i ng sign on the property. <br />L. C. Brown and Lucy Dingman were present in support of the change:. <br />Appearing in opposition to Vie petition were Emory Bridges, David Long,, <br />Ellis Cannon and Joel Casey, Elders of the &wham Street Church of Christ. <br />They felt Commercial Zoning would cause a..rapid deterioration of the neigh- <br />borhood. <br />Mr. tong complained that the auto repair garage.located at 12th and Bonham <br />was very unsightly and felt this property could become like it. <br />
