During discussion, it was pointed out that there was substantial single <br />family development in this area which is presently zoned Commercial and <br />that the new high school close by may have changed the future use of land <br />in the area. After discussion Mr. Abbett made the motion, seconded by Mr. <br />Staples, that the request be recommended for approval. All members voted <br />aye. <br />The Commission then instructed Joe McCollum to prepare a land use study <br />of this area to determine if additional residential zoning is needed to <br />protect existing homes. Information will be discussed at the October <br />meeting. <br />Mr. McKinney urged the members to attend the Short Course for Planning <br />Commissioners to be held in Dallas September 19, 20 and 21, 1974. <br />Chairman Anderson at this time stated he had submitted his resignation to <br />the Mayor and this was his final meeting. He is moving outside. the City <br />Limits which disqualifies him from serving on the Commission. He expressed <br />his regrets for having to leave and thanked the other members for their help <br />and cooperation during his terms. <br />With no further business to cone before the Commission the meeting was <br />adJourned. <br />V . 01 C- CiL..,. <br />oe ft.
