MINUTES OF PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
CITY OF PARIS
DECEMBER 2, 1974
The Planning and Zoning Commission met at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 2,
1974 in the Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas with the following members
present:
1. Clark Estes, Jr. - Chairman
2. Charlie Adkins
3. Raymond Fuller
4. Dr. C. E. Gilmore
5. Dr. Jim Miles
6. Homer Thornton
The meeting was.called to order with the first item of business being approval
of the Minutes of November 4, 1974. It was pointed out that the description
of Tract No. 2 under the Jefferson Road, Eighth Street S.E. area was in error.
Mr. Thornton moved, seconded by 11r. Adkins, that the description be amended to
read "all the land between Old Jefferson Road and New Jefferson Road, east of
Evergreen Street, presently zoned Commercial, be changed to SF -2". All voted
aye.
The next item of business was a Public -Bearing to consider the petition of
John Larry Walker and Paul Richard Bercher for a change in zoning from a 2F
(Two Fanily Dwelling District) to an 0 (Office District) on a 1.56 acre tract
of land located on the southeast corner of Austin Street and 10th S.E. This
tract includes part of Lots 9 thru 13, Block 4 of the Felts, Fort and Varner
Addition and Lots 1 and 2, City Block 113 -A.
Mr. A. W. Clem IV, representing the applicants, stated that they had a contract
to purchase the property subject to Office Zoning. A brick veneer office building
with landscaping and off - street parking is proposed for the property. He further
stated that the property was unlikely to be improved for residential use as it
faces the rear of the Brookshires Store. The property is desirable for office
use because it has good access and is close to St. Joseph's Hospital.
No one was present opposing the request. After discussion Mr. Thornton made a
motion that the request be recommended for approval. Dr. Miles seconded the
motion and all voted aye.
Following the vote, mention was made of drainage and platting requirements on
the property. The Commission felt that these items should have been considered
in the recomriendation, but as the principals involved had already left the
meeting, the motion was not amended.
The next item of business was a Public Hearing called by the Planning Commission
to consider a change in zoning on three tracts of land in the Jefferson Road,
Eighth Street-S.E. area.
