Next Chairman Mallory declared the public hearing open on the appeal of
Gladys Bell for a variance to Section 9 -601 (1) of the City of Paris Zoning
Ordinance on Lot 7, City Block 51 located at 920 Dickson Avenue.
Mrs. Bell told the Board of her desire to build an open carport on the west
side of her house over an existing concrete driveway. She said she could not
build the carport if she had to set it back 5 feet from the property line.
She asked to be allowed to place it 1 foot from her west line stating that a
gutter would be installed to prevent water from draining onto her neighbors
lot.
Mr. McCollum presented a photo indicating the proposed location of the car-
port and advised the Board that there are several garages and storage build-
ings on the property line in this block.
Bessie Nowell, 934 Dickson, stated she did not object to the carport but
brought up the fact that there is a dispute over the property line between
her and Mrs. Bell. She did not want part of the carport to be on her pro-
perty.
The Board advised Mrs. Nowell that they were not capable of settling the
property line dispute.
No one else was present to speak on the matter and the public hearing was
closed.
Discussion followed and the consensus of opinion was that the proposed
carport would not damage the area. Mr. Abbott made a motion to allow the
variance. Mr. Wallace seconded the motion which carried 5 ayes, and 0 nays.
With no further business to consider, the meeting was adjourned.
n'
e N. McCollum
Secretary - ex- officio
