MINUTES
CALLED MEETING
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11, 1981
5:15 O'CLOCK P.M,
COUNCIL ROOM - CITY HALL
PARIS, TEXAS
The Board of Adjustment of the City of Paris met in a called meeting Wednesday,
March 11, 1981 at 5:15 P.M. with the following members present:
1. F.D. Mallory III - Chairman
2. Spencer Abbett
3. Bill Lightfoot
4. Richard Nafe
5. Curtis Wallace
6. John Williams, Jr.
Also present was Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development.
Chairman Mallory called the meeting to order and declared the public hearing
open on the appeal of Larry McCormick for a variance to Section 9 -601 (1) of
the City of Paris Zoning Ordinance on Lot 3, Block K, Morningside Addition,
located at 835 40th S.E.
Mr. McCormick was present as was Randall Ground, the contractor who was build-
ing the house in question. Mr Ground advised the Board that the foundation had
been set up in conformance with the Zoning Ordinance when the owner decided to
add a fireplace on the north side of the house. The fireplace chimney would
encroach on the side yard by 1.5 feet which would give it a side set back of
3.5 feet instead of the required 5 feet,
Mr. Ground said he had discussed the matter with several property owners in the
area and no one objected to it.
Mr. McCollum advised the Board that Irwing Simpson, who lives next door to
the McCormick house, had called and stated no objection to the request.
Mr. Williams stated he felt it was insignificant and as there was no objection
from the neighbors, he did not object to it.
Following discussion, Mr. Nafe made a motion to allow the variance. Mr. Light-
foot seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
Mr. Mallory asked Mr. Ground to please advise area builders at their next meeting
of the Board's decision on this matter and to caution them concerning compliance
with the Zoning Ordinance requirements.
With no further business to consider, the meeting was adjourned.
'ti yv, SAAJ__'-
oe N.
